Compensation for gays and lesbians
As an American who donated money in the aftermath of the terrorist attack on our country, I find it apalling that our government has decided to discriminate against its own citizens if they happen to be gay or lesbian. If you are a law abiding, tax paying, voting citizen who happens to be gay or lesbian, you are not eligible to receive compensation. And yet if you are living illegally in the United States as an undocumented worker, you can receive compensation. Where is the justice in such a policy? Where is the fairness?
Our government exists to protect and serve its citizens, not harm them. Shame on us and our government for commiting a tragedy within a tragedy. Shame, shame, shame.
