heroes
WILL WE EVER LEARN?
It has been brought to my attention that administrators of the September 11 Victim Compensation Fund have decided that not everyone in this country is equal. I am refering to the discrimination of gay and lesbian partners of those lost in our greatest national tradgedy.
It is my understanding that compensation will either be lessened or outright denied these families of our heroes. I not only strongly disagree with this position but am sickened by the blatant effort to cheapen the lives of those who walked into hell to serve and protect us "all" ie. black, white, hispanic, short, tall, heterosexual, homosexual...
Why, after what should have been a unifying event, does our government look beyond our simple humanity and label our differences? We are all human beings. We are all Americans. And they were all heroes.
On September 11, 2001 people, "families" were ripped apart. Acknowledge and respect that. The makeup of those families should be irrelevant.
