9/11 victim compensation fund
Dear Kenneth Feinberg and colleagues,
I am dismayed to hear that the September 11 Victim Compensation Fund will
not benefit ALL people who lost loved ones in the terrorist attacks on the
World Trade Center and Pentagon. It seems less than civilized to refuse
benefits to same sex partners in this time of national mourning. Every
single person who lost a loved one deserves the same treatment, regardless
of their race, nationality, religion, gender, or sexual
preference. Extending benefits to illegal aliens and unborn fetuses and
refusing the same benefits to gays and lesbians is atrocious. The rights
of Illegial aliens and fetuses are not protected under the laws of this
nation or in states any more than the rights of homosexuals; therefore,
granting compensation to the former groups and denying them to the latter
is blatantly unfair.
Please make sure that all people are treated the same way in the wake of
this disaster. The attacks themselves were devastating enough, the gays
and lesbians who will be hurt by your policy do not need any further reason
for grief.
Sincerely,
Individual Comment
