To whom it may concern,
I am outraged to learn that gay and lesbian partners of those who died on
September 11 are not automatically going to receive the same benefits as
heterosexual spouses.
This is unconscionable. This country is as hypocritical as ever and I am
ashamed to be a part of it when big organizations make their own rules, and
say one thing like "we are all equal" yet act in such a disgusting
discriminatory way. I bet most of these homosexual relationships were much
healthier than many of the heterosexual relationships but because of
ignorant misconceptions and fears, deserving, grieving people are given no
respect or acknowledgement. If these partners do not receive the same
benefits as hetero spouses you should all be ASHAMED.
