New Jersey concern

Hello, I lost my husband in the WTC attacks on 9/11 and I have a concern about how this compensation fund will be distributed. My husband and I did NOT have wills, nor did we have children yet. I am legally next of kin, as his wife. Because we do not have wills, some money is paid to the "estate" for which I am the administratrix, yet under NJ law, all monies paid to the estate would be divided, after the first $50,000, between myself and my husbands family...just because we didn't have wills. I want to make sure this compensation will be paid directly to me, not the estate, as his family was not financially dependent upon him. I would have no problem splitting "pain & suffering" with them, b/c that is what we are all experiencing, but the economic loss should not be split because I am next of kin, we depended financially upon one another, no one else did. Please let me know how you presume this will carry out, thank you very much for your time.
