federal survivor benefits

Att: Kenneth L Zwick, DOJ
RE September 11 Survivor benefits:

International human rights standards, and the general principle of equality, demand that that same-sex partners should be included among relatives eligible for compensation. hose who lost their life partners as well as de facto parents or children, without regard to sexual orientation or marital status. The Justice Department must grant compensation benefits "on a showing of mutual interdependence with the victim, in recognition that anyone who shared with the victim living expenses, day to day activities and the emotional bonds of family deserves help in this time of need."

Remind Justice Department officials that real justice is only served when all families - and all types of families - impacted by the human rights tragedy of September 11 are treated with dignity and equality.

Please excuse the form letter. I understand that the deadline is approaching. I hope and pray you will do the right thing and show compassion and an understanding of democracy by granting these benefits to ALL victims' families.

Thank you.
