compassion has Limits
I'm sorry but I find myself desperate to express what is certainly to be a
very unpopular opinion but the idea of creating multi-millionaires because
of the tragedy that befell people on 9/11 is outrageous to me. I certainly
believe that these families should have some assistance to get their lives
back together, to move on with their life and re-establish themselves but it
doesn't require millions of dollars of taxpayer money in addition to
corporate money from insurance companies and relief organizations.
It perpetuates the growing assumption that Americans should be financially
protected from any negative or catastrophic event in their lives. It's an
entitlement that's unrealistic and unfair.
Although I admire their compassion, I believe that government
representatives are not acting responsibly or in the best interest of the
society as a whole or providing a meaningful service to the victims by
throwing money at their feet.
