Victims Compensation

Dear Sirs:

I am writing due to the methods being imposed for compensation upon the victimized families that have been affected by the September 11, 2001 attacks at the WTC, Pentagon, and Pennsylvania.

With an understanding of our immediate desire following the attacks to assist business, I appreciate the sentiment behind the Victims Compensation Fund P.L. 107-42. I take strong exception however to the interim rules issued by Kenneth Feinberg, The Special Master.

My town of Mahasset, NY suffered greatly with everyone else on that day that brought solidarity and resolve to this great country. As anxious as we may be to put behind us the litigation that will surely result from this tragedy, I feel strongly that the establishment of arbitray income limits is inconsistant with the justice we all strive to achieve.

I would request that you make amendments to the interim rules to the extent that income caps be removed when computing economic loss and that compensation for pain and suffering more accurately reflect the suffering.
