Comments on Sept. 11 Victims Fund
I am afraid I am a contrarian voice regarding compensation for victims
of Sept. 11th.
My compassion goes out to the victims, but I do not think it is the role
of the U.S. government to assume liability. Is the death of someone in
the Twin Towers any different from say the child killed in Oakland,
California, last week when an illegal alien ploughed into a group of
children in a crosswalk?
To me both are acts of terrorism resulting from the U.S. government
failing to enforce our borders.
With regards to compensation for illegal immigrant victims of Sept. 11th
I find it offensive to even consider it. Why should I as an American be
rewarding - even in their death - lawbreakers? Indeed the term victim is
misapplied here as Americans are the victims of the illegal acts of the
aliens.
Generosity is a noble impulse. But it must be tempered keeping in mind
the consequences.
I think that zero interest loans based on need are a proper response to
legal victims.
