Fund Considerations
The people of this country, both through private means and public law,
provided money for the victims of the September 11 tragedy in an effort to
assist them. We did not make this money available so that the families could
become millionaires.
Many of the people involved had insurance benefits, etc. Had one or other of
the victims simply been killed in a traffic accident, their insurance would
have provided a certain amount for their loved ones and that would have been
the end of it. The families would have had to sort out how to deal with the
change in income. But now that the families see this vast pool of money,
public and private, they seem to believe that they "deserve" more.
