Dear Sir:

I feel that the government has a duty to all Americans affected directly by the tragedy occurring on September 11th to ease their experience of pain and suffering. While I feel that the September 11 Victim Compensation Fund is a step in the right direction, I feel that the alienation of gay and lesbian partners is both a disservice to the basic rights of all Americans, and an insult to those who gave their lives on that date. To see their loved ones denied support because their relationship was homosexual is an insult to them as citizens and as national heroes whose lives were taken away in that hateful act of terrorism.

I am writing you to petition that gay and lesbian partners of victims of September 11th be recognized in their suffering, and compensated as equally as the straight partners of victims. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
