Subject: Re: Victim's Compensation
If the people that were killed we killed in a natural disaster, how much would they get?
You can't put an amount on pain and suffering, and I don't think it should be tried. I think the only people that should be compensated are the people that are directly affected monetarily, ie, spouses, children, dependent parents. Siblings, aunts, uncles should be excluded.
I feel sorry for the victims, but there are 40,000 people killed in auto accidents a year. What happens to their families? What would these people have done if their loved one was killed in a traffic accident on their way to work? Didn't they have life insurance, social security? Didn't they plan for the future? Why should the American Taxpayer have to pay for their lack of forethought? If the spouses of the victims are having a hard time making ends meet, then do what the rest of the country does, go get a job, sell your $1,000,000 estate, live cheaper. It's what most of us do anyway.
If the victims' families want to sue, let them sue the real responsible party, OSAMA BIN LADEN!!! People in this country are too quick to point blame on whoever has the biggest bank account.
