Minimum Amount to Walk Away
At today's Family Meeting held in Ridgewood, NJ with Special Master Kenneth
Feinberg, the Special Master stated that it was his intention that no one
will walk away with NOTHING from the fund. If a family presented a case
that warranted departure from the presumed award, adjustments would be made
to make sure some amount was disbursed.
The Final rules should proclaim a "Minimum Amount AFTER collateral offsets"
so families that say they will get nothing using the current formula will
indeed get something tangible (and explicit).
