Comment on 9/11 victim compensation
I have been thoroughly disgusted by the behavior of many of the victims'
families. Congress has set a terrible precedent by providing these
funds; many others deserve help too, but the government shouldn't be
doing this for just one group of people, nomatter how horrible their
losses (does Congress or the vocal victims remember there are such people
as the 40 million with no medical insurance?). Instead of being grateful
for the private generosity of the American people and being grateful they
will be the beneficiaries of large life insurance policies or other
assets that are to be deducted from the $1.6 million average government
payments (YES, we DO understand that not everyone is getting that much
and many of us think your charity payments should also be deducted from
the government payments) so many of these family members, such as Mr.
, have behaved like avaricious game-show contestants. When did they
even grieve??? And, for siblings and parents of victims, who presumably
were not dependents of those killed, to feel such entitlement is
especially disgusting.
