Victim's Compensation Fund
I do not believe the Compensation Fund, as calculated by Special Master Feinburg, should be altered to be more generous to victim's families than it currently is.
What the American Public (who is footing the bill for several thousand families to remain in their current lifestyle) see nightly are families complaining they aren't getting enough tax-payer money. Do these people not realize the fund is a safety-net program? If they aren't 'getting enough', their families did what exactly what they were supposed to do, by planning for the future with life insurance.
It should not be the U.S. Government's role to ensure a 30-year old stay-at-home mom never has to work again, because she wasn't working on September 11th. That is rediculous! If the government wants to dip into the taxpayer pot further, why not set aside funds for the 'victims' nobody thinks about? All the survivors of WTC who escaped with their lives, but their jobs crumbled with the building. Nobody is taking care of them.
