Issues for the Special Master to Consider
I am the son of one of the deceased victims of the WTC attack. I am now
24 years of age. My father (the deceased) was widowed 12 years ago, of
which I am the only child. Four years ago my father remarried. My
step-mother has two children (one 23 and one 21) who are not related to
my father by anything other than marriage. I am concerned that since
she is the personal representive, I will not be protected in the
Compensation process but her children may be.
I believe in circumstance like this, the Special Master should take the
following into consideration:
1) The direct (blood) relation of claimants in determining the split of
funds.
2) The length of time associated with the decendent (ie 4 years of
marriage as opposed to 24 years of life)
3) Amount of support the decendent gave to each benificiary.
I thank you for the oppertunity to comment.
Sincerely,
