Fiances' as claimants
We along with dozens of parents who lost sons or daughters are outraged at
some fiances' who feel they should be qualified claimants and who also feel
that parents are better off financially than they are. This is an outrage and
a contradiction to our American traditions. Many parents live on fixed
incomes and are in need of long term care and medical assistance . Many of
these same fiances' were earning more than the deceased. The state statutes
clearly indicate that the next of kin should be the qualified claimant. We
parents sacrificed our entire life for our children only to be dealt with
forever pain and suffering that cannot be experinced by any other
relationship.
Fiances' would be better served if they worked out their differences with the
families of the deceased . Parents are the most qualified claimants both
under the law and under moral principles.
Thank you,
Parents
