ICITAP Joins Local Police Leaders and Federal Government Officials to Share Good Practices in Countering Violent Extremism

On September 29, ICITAP facilitated a webinar titled “Community-Focused Policing to Combat Terrorism and Counter Violent Extremism,” which brought together the Chief of the Seattle Police Department, the Chief of the Ann Arbor Police Department, and a Lt. of Police from the Denver PD to discuss their departments’ community engagement and violence prevention programs as well as their perspective on ICITAP’s 2020 publication titled “Using Community-Focused Policing to Combat Terrorism and Counter Violent Extremism: A Law Enforcement Toolkit.” The three-person panel was moderated by officials from the State Department’s Bureau of Counterterrorism Office of Programs (CT/P), DOJ’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) and from ICITAP.
