Serbia: ICITAP Principal Deputy Director and Assistant Director for Europe-Eurasia Visit U.S. Embassy Belgrade and Host-Nation Partners
From September 17 to September 18, ICITAP’s Principal Deputy Director for Management and Global Programs and Assistant Director for Europe-Eurasia visited the sunsetting ICITAP Mission in Belgrade, Serbia. This visit served as a critical review as ICITAP approaches its mission closing by reflecting on its impactful contributions to law enforcement training and capacity building in Serbia. During their stay, the ICITAP leadership team met with key personnel from the General Services Office, Budget and Fiscal Office, International Cooperative Administrative Support Service, and the Human Resources Office section. Discussions highlighted the excellent administrative and programmatic cooperation over the past 20 years and the seamless closure of ICITAP’s mission. The ICITAP leadership team also visited Serbia’s Special Antiterrorism Unit (SAJ), which focused on ICITAP’s assistance, successes and challenges faced in counterterrorism operations. In addition, they received a briefing on ICITAP supported activities over the past 20 years. They also received a briefing and toured the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies where ICITAP activities and collaboration were highlighted to include renovations, donations, and training events. As ICITAP moves towards its conclusion in Serbia, this visit allowed for the sharing of insights and experiences and reinforced the commitment of continuing partnerships to enhance policing and security measures in the region. ICITAP’s official closing date in Serbia is September 30, 2024.
