On November 14, ICITAP concluded Bangladesh’s first ever Women’s Leadership Institute (WLI) in Dhaka. The Women’s Leadership Institute supports and educates women in the law enforcement profession to develop female leaders, organize professional networks, and encourage continued promotion. Opening speakers included Bangladesh’s Minister of Home Affairs, the U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission, and ICITAP’s Principal Deputy Director. Participants included 31 Bangladeshis, six Pakistani, and two Indonesia female police leaders. This is the third international delivery of the WLI, the first two taking place in South Africa and Nepal. One of ICITAP’s key priorities is the recruitment and promotion of women and minorities into all strata of law enforcement including senior leadership positions, which will help foster increased public engagement from all populations. In Bangladesh, this activity was delivered with the support of and in coordination with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
