On June 20, ICITAP participated in a meeting with the Superintendent of the Chittagong Metropolitan Police, who was recently promoted in part due to numerous women-empowerment trainings. She is now one of three women police leaders to hold the position of District in Charge (throughout Bangladesh’s 64 districts). ICITAP sponsored the Superintendent’s attendance to the International Association of Women Police (IAWP) Conference in 2016 (Barcelona) and 2018 (Calgary), and she continues her engagement through ICITAP mentorship and training activities. The Superintendent’s promotion to this key leadership position is evidence of the impact and importance of women’s empowerment training and mentorship, which ICITAP conducts with the support of and in partnership with the State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
