Bosnia-Herzegovina: ICITAP Delivers Leadership Training to 17 Law Enforcement Agencies

From September 10 to 12, ICITAP facilitated an Executive Leadership Seminar in Neum, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) for 20 chief executives from 17 law enforcement agencies and police academies in BiH. The purpose of the seminar was to bring together leaders of police agencies in BiH and present contemporary leadership and management concepts, then to identify and discuss common leadership problems. The participants of this event heard an inspirational presentation from a former Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Chief of Global Operations, who shared proven, “battle-tested” strategies on how to successfully develop superior leaders in a multi-generational workforce. Other speakers included ICITAP Deputy Assistant Director for Europe and Eurasia Heather Rauch, the Police Commissioner from Zenica-Doboj, the Head of the Agency for Education and Professional Training (Mostar Police Academy), the Head Prosecutor from the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Prosecutors’ Office, and ICITAP’s Attaché in Bosnia-Herzegovina. At the event, the Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in BiH, presented certificates of achievement to the three police academies in BiH for substantial progress toward international certification by the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST). ICITAP’s work in this area is delivered with the support of and in coordination with the Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
