Bosnia-Herzegovina: ICITAP Partners with Local Authorities to Improve Investigative Capacity

On November 15, ICITAP completed two consecutive five-day iterations of “Interviewing and Investigations Training” at the Police Academy in Mostar. Over the two-week period, a total of 41 participants attended, representing the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), the Border Police, Foreigners Affairs Service (FAS), the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies, Brčko District, Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and West Herzegovina Canton. The FBI Instructors opened the course with an FBI 101 presentation and then moved on to discussing Active Listening, Interview Fundamentals, Planning an Interview, Initiating and Engaging in an Interview, Detection of Deception, Cognitive Interview, Elements of Interrogation, followed by several hours of practical exercises. This training represents continuation of ICITAP efforts towards improving investigative capacities of local law enforcement in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This training was delivered with the support of and in coordination with the State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
