On May 15, the Federation Ministry of the Interior announced on social media the recent certification of the Federation (Sarajevo) Police Academy by the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST). The Sarajevo academy trains the bulk of Federation and Cantonal Police in the Bosnian Federation. The certification has been shipped to Sarajevo and will be formally presented by representatives of the U.S. Embassy-Sarajevo and possibly IADLEST once international travel restrictions are removed. The Federation Ministry of the Interior Police Academy joins the national police training academy in Kosovo and the Bosnia & Herzegovina state Agency for Education and Professional Training – Mostar as the newest of three police academies in the Balkans to receive IADLEST accreditation. The Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior Police Academy in Banja Luka is nearing a final IADLEST accreditation visit as well. ICITAP-BiH has partnered with police training academies and IADLEST to help build 21st Century police training competencies in the former Yugoslavia. In BiH, ICITAP works with the support of and in coordination with the State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
