Colombia: ICITAP Delivers Critical Anti-Corruption Training on Special Techniques of Communications Analysis

On November 15, ICITAP participated in the “Second National Seminar for Corruption Prosecutors” with a training on "Special Techniques of Communications Analysis” in Bogota. The Seminar participants included 180 anti-corruption prosecutors, who were instructed on the role of the Communications Analyst, how best to utilize the analysts work in obtaining relevant evidence for criminal prosecutions and strengthening investigations through technological means. ICITAP has developed the skills and abilities of the Wire Communications Analysts for the Fiscalia and the Colombian National Police, and ICITAP continues delivering practical training and the use of specialized tools (software), development and implementation of minimum standards that reflect international best practices, procedures, and the design of technical reports that support the field investigator in resolving criminal cases. The training to the prosecutors strengthens their understanding of the analysis process, types of information that is derived from their work, and how to best use that information in criminal prosecution. This training has contributed to the dismantling of organized crime structures on national and transnational levels.
