On February 1, ICITAP concluded two days of training for 22 members of the strategic communications directorate team of the Dominican National Police (DNP) and regional directorates. The course covers the following objectives: know the theoretical and practical fundamentals of the DNP strategic communications model, understand the new role that communications plays in building credibility and trust with interest groups, and apply principles of transparency, no violence, effectiveness in communicating citizen security and peaceful coexistence to build trust and co-responsibility. This course is part of a set of 12 courses for the management of the DNP strategic communications model. The ICITAP-Dominican Republic mission has assisted DNP develop a number of models and strategies to improve transparency, enhance services, build relations with vulnerable and marginalized populations, in addition to encouraging community engagement. In the DR, ICITAP works with the support of and in coordination with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
