On May 23, ICITAP-Indonesia’s Woman’s Leadership Development Program led an Interactive Forum titled “Woman and Social Media-the Good and The Bad” in collaboration with the Indonesian National Police (INP), the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, the Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology, and a number of civil society organizations. The goal of the forum was to discuss the importance of safety and personal protection for women while using social media. The U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission provided opening remarks, followed by a series of speakers from each of the respective organizations. A total of 131 people attended the event to include reps from the INP, several Indonesian government institutions, local academics, the private sector, the local media, social media reporters, community-based organizations, other government officials, as well as other high-profile Indonesian figures. The audience was able to engage in a question-and-answer session with the speakers and were supportive for the information that was provided during the event. In Indonesia, ICITAP partners with the State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) on this project.
