On July 3, ICITAP concluded the three-week Organized Crime Development Train-the-Trainer course in Sterling, VA for 32 senior-level Ministry of Interior (MOI) officials from different regions of Iraq. ICITAP worked in close collaboration with partner U.S. law enforcement agencies to conduct the course, which complemented individual skills development, knowledge, and equipment improvements to assist academies and directorates develop their own qualified instructors for the Organized Crime division to deliver ongoing training as they return to their home regions. Over the longer term, ICITAP anticipates deepening MOI training academy capacity to collaboratively build, pilot, deliver, and maintain ‘best practices’ curricula for investigators. ICITAP’s work in this area is delivered with the support of and in coordination with the Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
