On November 15, ICITAP completed the second week of a two-week Cyber Crimes Basic and Advanced Training for 18 personnel from Iraq’s Ministry of Interior (MOI). The students included police officers and civilian personnel assigned to various MOI units including the Cyber Crime Division, Intelligence Department, Inspector General, and the Technology & Communications Departments. The course topics the second week of training included Virtualization, Introduction to Linux, Digital Evidence collection, ransomware, internet fraud, social media, and the Dark Web. The course also included case studies and hands-on exercises using the various commercially available software tools the students were exposed to in the basic training course. The program also received support from the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Department. The graduation ceremony for the training program was held on the last day. This activity was delivered with the support of and in coordination with the State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
