On December 2, the Kosovo Police (KP) seized over 250 pounds of suspected heroin in Pristina. This is reportedly the largest heroin interdiction in Kosovo history. The street value, depending on purity, in Kosovo is between $2M and $3M. This successful operation was led by two KP officials, who utilized skills developed in ICITAP training events on narcotics investigations, and counter-narcotic (CN) task force development, and major CN case management. ICITAP has worked in Kosovo since 1999 and was instrumental in the establishment of the KP, which, over the past 19 years, has conducted a significant number of CN, counter-terrorism, and anti-corruption operations that have contributed to countering criminal threats throughout the Western Balkans and within the larger international community.
