Kosovo: ICITAP Training Arms Law Enforcement with Enhanced Media Relations Tools

On August 23, ICITAP completed a one-week Media: Public Relations and Information training course for 20 members of the public safety sectors that included participants from the Kosovo Police, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Kosovo Prosecution office, Police Inspectorate and Kosovo Correctional Service. Students received both classroom and practical training exercises delivered in partnership with the San Antonio (TX) Police Department. The training was concluded with a graduation ceremony in which the Kosovo Police General Director and ICITAP’s Senior Police Advisor provided closing remarks. The students praised the level of information imparted and appreciated the methods and content of the instruction. In the near future, ICITAP advisors will assist the KP Public Information office in reviewing and revising their instructions on operating their PR office to incorporate concepts introduced in this training event. In Kosovo, ICITAP delivers this area of assistance to the KP with the support of and in coordination with the State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (State/INL).
