Pakistan: ICITAP Strengthens International Cooperation on Criminal Matters

On August 31, ICITAP concluded the one-week White Collar Crime & International Cooperation on Criminal Matters course at the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Academy in Islamabad. This ICITAP course taught the participants about how to address corporate and white collar crimes including conspiracy, mail and wire fraud, extortion, bribery, tax offenses, obstruction of justice, and false statements. Students explore the theoretical and policy framework for individual and institutional responsibility in the criminal justice system and also examine emerging theories and concepts of investigating and combating white collar crime. The course also teaches them how essential international cooperation is to curb criminal practices when they transcend national borders and will provide them with mechanisms developed by the international community to tackle criminal matters. Twenty-four participants, including four female students, graduated from the one-week course, helping to ensure that international cooperation on criminal matters would be strengthened in Pakistan.
