Hayden O’Byrne

Hayden O’Byrne currently served as the Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General (A/DAAG) over the Office of International Affairs (OIA), the Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training (OPDAT) and the International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP).  In this role, he helps coordinate the overseas activities of the Department, including extraditions and mutual legal assistance with foreign partners. Hayden is also responsible for the Department’s overseas capacity-building programs, which work with partner nations on issues ranging from illicit finance and cyber-crimes to counternarcotics, counterterrorism, and transnational organized crime.

Prior to his current role as A/DAAG, Hayden served as United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida.  Hayden began his public service in September 2019, serving as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of Florida. During this time, he successfully tried cases involving violent crimes, fraud, weapons trafficking, and narcotics. 

Hayden received his B.A. and J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude.
