David M. Bent Memorial Award For Excellence In Administrative And Litigative Support
On November 5, 2015, U.S. Attorney Richard S. Hartunian presented Deanna Lieberman, Paralegal Specialist, with the “David M. Bent Award for Excellence in Administrative and Litigative Support.”
The “David M. Bent Award for Excellence in Administrative and Litigative Support” is presented annually to a member of the United States Attorney's Office support staff to recognize outstanding performance in the field of administrative and/or litigative support over a sustained period of time and extraordinary achievements of high importance to the mission of the office. The award is given in honor of David M. Bent, who served with distinction as the Administrative Officer for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York from September 4, 1983 until his death on April 20, 2001.
Deanna Lieberman had ten years of federal experience in budgeting with the Department of the Army when she began her career with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in 2006 as a Legal Assistant. In 2010, Ms. Lieberman became a Paralegal Specialist. She has distinguished herself with exceptional performance in work as varied as support of the counter-terrorism effort of our National Security Section and support of the entire appellate caseload of the U.S. Attorney’s Office. One example of Ms. Lieberman’s daily dedication to duty was her work after hours last New Year’s Eve on an appellate brief in an important securities fraud case. The brief was over 140 pages long, and Ms. Lieberman worked very late to ensure that the brief and accompanying motions were properly cite checked, formatted, and filed. Ms. Lieberman’s calm, steady confidence and tireless work ethic follow the example set by Dave Bent.
