Indian Country Law Outreach & Diversity Recruitment – Pre-Law Summer Institute for American Indians and Alaska Natives

Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle Nayback addressed the 2016 class of the Pre-Law Summer Institute (PLSI) for American Indians and Alaska Natives.  PLSI is nationally respected pre-law orientation program run by the American Indian Law Center, Inc.  Approximately 30 students attended this year’s intensive two-month program, which prepares American Indian and Alaska Native individuals for the rigors of law school by replicating the first semester of law school.  The program has been in existence for 50 years and many of its graduates have gone on to be Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs and hold other high offices at the Department of the Interior, tribal court judges and Deans of Law Schools.  Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney Nayback discussed the Indian Country work of the Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.  He also discussed the Department’s Honors Program and internship opportunities for law students within the Department.
