“Comments Regarding Agriculture and Antitrust Enforcement Issues in Our 21st Century Economy”
The consolidation of the meat packing and slaughter industry must come to a halt. The cow calf producer is losing money due to the lack of competition of bidders at local auction barns. How come at a time of lower beef prices at the sale barn that the cost of a steak at the supermarket is still at an all-time high?Meat packers should not be able to own cattle for more than 7 days!!I do not understand why over the years the consolidation of the beef packing industry has gone unchecked by our government regulators.
