I am writing because I am deeply concerned about the lack of competition and oversight in agricultural markets. Huge agribusinesses like Monsanto dominate the field and are not held to safety and health standards because they are too big, rich, and powerful to regulate? It would seem that way, given the revolving door policy that admits agribusiness lobbyists into government positions. Little wonder that our foods are poorly regulated. There is no exuse for the lack of mandated labeling of genetically modified food.

And how dare you allow Monsanto to control most of the seeds in the United States and to threaten farmers who do not use its seeds? And how dare you allow food crops to be grown in ways that contaminate the water and soil?

I demand that the policy of allowing food industry-associated personell admission into government be stopped immediately. I want to eat safe, healthful food grown in safe, healthful environments. As long as you allow agribusiness to run the show, that will not be possible. Please do your job and protect my health and the health of my fellow Americans instead of endangering it.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to comment.

Sincerely,

Sarajane Hall
