I am a mother of three young boys and am deeply concerned about what our government is allowing the food corporations to get away with.  How could the government give these corporations so much power to do whatever they want?
I don't want my family to eat foods that are genetically modified.  I don't want my family to eat irradiated produce or meats.  I don't want my family to eat bacteria infested meats.  I don't want my family to eat meat that is pumped up with steroids, antibiotics, cloned or covered in manure, and yet these corporations are deceptively selling that to us.  Other countries have banned GMOs, require labelling and test all meat being sold to the public, why can't the US?  Is that the kind of food these corporations serve at their family's dinner table?  I highly doubt it.
I want to give my children the best quality food there is to offer, but these large corporations make it difficult.  They are wiping out the small, independent farmers, giving people less of a choice.  I want to give my children food that was raised and grown with care.  I want to give them food that was raised and grown the way God meant them to be, without massive amounts of chemicals.  It shouldn't be so unaffordable.
It also deeply upsets me to know that my hard working tax money is helping to subsidize this toxic food.  And to think that I can try my hardest to give my children wholesome foods and yet the USDA provides this poison food in my children's school.
These corporations are poisoning us and the planet, and all for money.
Why does the US government spend so much on national defense to protect us when they are allowing these corporations to kill us?  I think the government should get their priorities straightened out.  Their job is to govern and protect the people, not make a profit.
Thank you for the opportunity to voice my opinion on this very important matter.  I look forward to following these hearings next year.
