I am writing because I am concerned about the lack of competition in agricultural markets. I am terribly distraught about how the big seed company "Monsanto" is dictating and enforcing their GM modified seeds to the smaller farmer. They are taking our rights away to eat PURE natural sources of food with out any GM. As they control the seed market, they are depleting thousands of plant species. and cheating the eco system, Does this mean they will take ownership of garden seeds? what if my pumpkins cross germinate with another pumpkin Monsanto (Asgrow) seed? Will they take my son's jack o' lantern away? This is ridiculous. My property is for my use. Should I want to raise a garden or other commodity crops, I should not have to be "licensed" to create my own food choice. If I would like to raise my own crops for my own purposes to feed out livestock, or raise hay or produce the optimum form of food for my family, I should have the freedom to select my crops.
One company should not have a vested right to ownership on something that can reproduce itself. Further more, this reflects poorly on the Supreme Courts decision, we have endured some major hardships as a nation, we need t o get back on our feet and work in unison, however, when the government allows Monsanto previous employees to hold offices in the EPA, FDA and on the Supreme Court, it totally reveals to me that our government is NOT for the people.
How can we trust them? To be honest, I have lost all respect for the governmental officials that are to be speaking on behalf of the people. There doesn't seem to be anything "United" about the United States of America, which is totally heart breaking.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to comment.
