We are deeply concerned that our food supply and distribution is completely controlled by 4-5 AgriBusiness Corporations.  We are in favor of local, organic, sustainable, non-GMO agriculture.  The introduction of GMO's into our food supply is a travesty of monsterous proportions.  An unconscienable travesty of equal proprtions is the complete lack of GMO research by independent, qualified scientists of the kind and duration needed to ensure human and planetary health. For example, high fructose corn syrup is 85% GMO and is found in enormour abundance in our food. Those who unwittingly consume it due to the lack of labeling laws are contaminated against their will.  We feel these companies need to be subjected to an 8-12 year regulatory process before these procedures and products are approved in order to determine the desirability and safety of GMO's on the planet, eco-system and it's inhabitants.  These AgriBusinesses and their special interests (greed) must not blind us to the risks involved.  We must put our health and well-being first.  A book titled Genetic Roullette: The documented health risks of genetically engineered foods by Jeffrey Smith cites 65 documented health risks of GMO foods.  For example, 1/ gene insertion disrupts DNA and can create unpredictable health problems; 2/ genes can be transferred to gut bacteria, internal organs and to viruses; 3/ GM crops increase environmental toxins and bioaccumulate toxins in our food chain.  We are playing Russian Roulette with our health.  We whole-heartedly agree with needed anti-trust action against these corporations who appear to have no conscience.  We also think the information you are gathering should be shared with other government branches that are supposed to be overseeing the safety and distribution of our food supply.  To date we have been relying on the fox in the chicken coop, AgriBusinesses,  to provide the research.  Capitalists/special interests are dictating our health care, ruining our climate, our food supply and on and on.  Their sole motivation is profit and greed.  Our government currently have no procedures or oversight in place and these corporations have FREE REIGN to do as the wish not just in the US but globally.  God help us all.
