I am writing because I am concerned about the control that just a few major companies have over our food supply and our farmers. The movie: "Food, Inc." was an eye opener and I hope you've seen it and are reacting as I am.
You should be encouraging independent and local farmers that meet food needs in their geographical area for several reasons: reducing dependence on gas/transportation, putting more money in the pockets of farmers where it should be, building local camaraderie, and eliminating the control that companies like Monsanto have on the whole food supply. The bigger companies get the more inefficient and self-serving they tend to become.
It's scary that you allow companies like Monsanto to control the whole market and encourage farming practices that are detrimental to all of our health. This is yet another example of dumbing down America. How can representatives from their company be given leadership positions in our Federal Government?
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to comment.
