|Subject:||The food industry should not be monopolized. It endangers everyone's health. Please increase transparency of how food is produced.|
I'm a software engineer in Medford, Massachusetts. I like to eat
healthy, organic food that has not been tampered with by big business
just for the sake of profit.
I believe that the monopolistic nature of large corporations are
preventing my family and friends from being able to purchase whole,
unprocessed, un-poisoned, local food.
Prices are rising at the supermarket because of large food companies
making record profits at the expense of smaller, more organic, local
farmers. I also don't want the local farmers to go out of business in
this economy - especially if it is because big corporate farms are
churning out more unhealthy food. These large corporations are driven
by profit only and don't take the health of the consumer into account.
I'm concerned about my family's safety since I know bacteria like E.Coli
and other foodborn pathogens accumulate much more at centralized
Please break the monopoly and increase the transparency about how our
foods are produced. If we could just know more about how our foods are
produced, I'm sure consumers would prefer the local, organic farmers in
their own area.
