I am living in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona which has unique flora and fauna. The conditions are very harsh and one must admire everything that grows and thrives here. What appalls me a great deal is the fact that "Round-up", an herbicide by Monsanto is in wide use around here. The shelves at Home Depot, Ace Hardware and other stores are packed with it.Also, the city uses it on medians and roadsides on a regular basis. The result is completely barren soil and poisoning of precious groundwater. It turns everything into a real desert.Herbicides and pesticides are too readily available and their long-term effects are not tested enough. Therefore it is absolutely necessary to have more restrictions and warnings about its use.
