Submission Text
I am a Family Nurse Practitioner in rural TN. I have 2 other NPs that work with me. We care for about 1250 patients a month between us. These patients choose us because of the quality care we provide. The barriers placed on the care we can provide is tiresome. Why can I write for a Diabetics insulin, that if proscribed incorrectly, would harm that patient, but I can't write for them a pair of shoes to walk in? We see patients daily with multiple complaints and if God forbid something happen to that patient, I can't sign their death certificate when I am the one who knows them best. These are just a few of the barriers we face. Now the Tennessee Medical Association is wanting to limit our ability to provide care even further. There are not enough Physicians as it is and they want to limit access for all patients here. There would be no where for my patients to go if I was ran out of business. We just ask to be able to provide the care we were trained to give. Most NPs have had the same amount of education as Physicians but are not allowed to use it fully. Please help us in this fight.
