Public Workshop on the Future of Pharmaceuticals: Examining the Analysis of Pharmaceutical Mergers (2022)
The DOJ and FTC hosted a two-day virtual workshop to explore new approaches to enforcing the antitrust laws in pharmaceutical mergers. The workshop, organized by FTC and DOJ staff, Offices of State Attorneys General, and international enforcement partners, took place from June 14, 2022 to June 15, 2022.
Listening Forum on Effects of Mergers in the Health Care Industry (2022)
The DOJ and FTC hosted a series of four listening forums to hear from those who have experienced firsthand the effects of mergers and acquisitions, including consumers, workers, entrepreneurs, start-ups, farmers, investors, and independent businesses. One of these forums, held on April 14, 2022, focused on the healthcare industry and featured nurses, physicians, healthcare consumers, and others who have experienced such firsthand effects.

The Justice Department’s Antitrust Division and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office hosted a virtual public workshop on September 23rd and 24th, 2020, to discuss the importance of intellectual property rights and pro-competitive collaborations for life sciences companies, research institutions, and American consumers.
Examining Health Care Competition Workshop (2015)
The Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission held a public workshop, “Examining Health Care Competition,” February 24–25, 2015, to study recent developments related to health care provider organization and payment models that may affect competition in the provision of health care services.
Most-Favored-Nation Clauses and Antitrust Enforcement and Policy (2012)
On September 10, 2012, the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission held a joint public workshop on most-favored-nation clauses (MFNs). The workshop provided a forum for discussion of the evolution of economic and legal thinking on MFNs and their implications. The workshop featured panels discussing economic theories concerning MFNs and why they are used, the legal treatment of MFNs, and industry experiences–including the experience of health care stakeholders–with MFNs, among other topics.
Health Care and Competition Law and Policy Hearings (2003)
These hearings marked the beginning of an extended examination of the state of the health care marketplace and the roles of competition, antitrust enforcement, and consumer protection in satisfying consumer preferences for high-quality, cost-effective health care.
