Mississippi Man Sentenced for Katrina Fraud

Robert G. Rader, of Waveland, Miss., was sentenced in U.S. District Court today to 45 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and ordered to repay $36,127.61 to FEMA, Acting U.S. Attorney Stan Harris announced. (Read more)

Recipient of Hurricane Katrina Disaster Funds Sentenced for Stealing $60,200

U.S. District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow sentenced Schewanda Baptiste, age 42, formerly of Waldorf, Maryland, today to three years probation, the first eight months to be served on home detention with electronic monitoring and ordered her to perform 200 hours of community service, for the theft of $60,200 in Hurricane Katrina disaster relief benefits, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. New Britain Woman Charged with Hurricane Katrina Fraud

Nora R. Dannehy, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that a federal grand jury sitting in Hartford returned an Indictment today charging CHRISTINE TATE, 30, of Tremont Street, New Britain, with one count of theft of government property and two counts of making false statements pertaining to eligibility for Hurricane Katrina benefits.
