Croatia: ICITAP Recognized by Ministry of Interior

On December 17, the U.S. Embassy announced that ICITAP-Croatia received an award from the Ministry of Interior in recognition of successful bilateral cooperation with the Government of Croatia and the Police Academy. Since 2013, ICITAP’s “Partnership for Education” has enhanced information sharing between the governments of Croatia and the United States and other participant countries and strengthened regional capacity to combat transnational crime and terrorism. Training courses are designed to develop and/or increase the skills and tools required to conduct effective transnational crime investigations, while simultaneously building relationships and networks between training participants to increase cooperation and collaboration across borders in future investigations. Subject matter experts from Croatia and the U.S. provide leadership in the development and implementation of these training courses that further the host government’s knowledge, while strengthening the relationship between the governments of Croatia and the United States. Croatia has proven to be a valued cost-sharing partner by providing training venues, lodging and meals, and in-country transportation for all participants free of charge. This program is implemented by ICITAP with the support of the Embassy’s Regional Security Office and under the auspices of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
