Forensics: ICITAP Facilitates Improved Quality Assurance for Algeria and Costa Rica

October 11, 2019

On October 11, ICITAP’s Forensic Unit completed its participation at the 18th Annual Association of Forensic Quality Assurance Managers (AFQAM) Training Conference in Lexington, KY. The two-person ICITAP forensic leadership team supported the attendance of ICITAP program participants from Algeria and Costa Rica. Developing quality assurance managers is a key component to ICITAP’s objective of international accreditation of the forensic laboratories in both countries. The ICITAP team also networked with U.S. forensic experts, who may potentially serve on future ICITAP missions. The five-day event included such sessions as “Risk-Based Thinking: A Better Approach to Management System Effectiveness and Continuous Improvement”; “Assessing and Documenting Risk: Using Customized Workflows to Comply with ISO 17025:2017”; “Rapid DNA”; “Proficiency Testing”; “Validation vs. Performance Checks”; “Secure Forensics”; and others.
