Consent Order - United States v. Gus Crank and Penny Crank
On August 24, 2021, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky entered a consent order in United States v. Gus and Penny Crank (E.D. Ky.). The Fair Housing Act lawsuit, filed on March 6, 2019, alleged that Gus Crank sexually harassed female tenants while managing a Dayton, Kentucky rental property owned by his wife, Penny Crank. Under the consent order, the Cranks must pay $48,000 in damages to four female tenants harmed by Gus Crank’s harassment and a $2,000 civil penalty to the United States. The Cranks are also prohibited from being involved in property management of rental units in the future; Penny Crank recently sold the rental property where Gus Crank’s harassment occurred.
