Guidance Regarding Fair Housing and Lending Protections for LGBTI Individuals

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has published guidance stating that owners or administrators of HUD-assisted or HUD-insured housing, FHA-approved mortgage lenders, and any other recipient or sub-recipient of HUD funds may be subject to program regulations intended to ensure equal access for persons who identify as LGBT. Please visit HUD's LGBT Fair Housing website, available here, to learn more.

Guidance Regarding the Employment of Transgender Individuals in the Federal Workplace

The Office of Personnel Management has published guidance regarding the employment of transgender persons in the federal workplace, available here. This guidance provides important definitions and reference material regarding employees who transition in the workplace.

Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)

The EEOC receives and investigates complaints of employment discrimination. The EEOC processes complaints of discrimination against transgender individuals as sex discrimination complaints. Please visit the EEOC's website for more information about how to file a complaint here. For information, visit the EEOC's website about Processing Complaints of Discrimination by Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Federal Employees here.

AIDS.gov

The objective of AIDS.gov is to increase knowledge about HIV and AIDS and access to HIV/AIDS services for people most at-risk for, or living with, HIV/AIDS; to extend the reach of HIV/AIDS programs to communities at greatest risk; and to expand visibility of timely and relevant federal HIV/AIDS policies, programs, and resources to the American public.
